Hey everyone, I am Tamara and today I am writing about our Portugal tour from Singapore. I and my friend, Gracy, visited Portugal in the month of March 2025. I am working in Singapore and my friend Gracy joined me from Japan. We took our international flights from our home airports and joined at Lisbon airport. Gracy and I have an agreement that every year we are going to do a holiday together. We have already visited Finland, Switzerland, Italy and Greece. This year we were looking for a holiday destination, and we chose Portugal to experience the Portuguese culture.

Why did we choose Portugal for our Holidays in 2025

Portugal was always on our list of places to travel. I am very much attracted to the Portuguese language and culture. I and Gracy were deciding on the destinations we should consider for our 2025 holidays. I suggested Portugal & Spain, although we only had 7 days in our pocket for the tour. Gracy very much liked the idea of visiting Portugal & Spain and it was all sorted. Then we started looking for the best itineraries for our tour. Unfortunately, we soon realized that in 7 days, we can either do Portugal or Spain. When we try to include both countries in 7 days of itinerary, we end up missing many important things.

This was the time we decided to choose either one. And after my recommendation, we finalized a Portugal tour from Singapore in 2025.

Planning stage of Portugal tour

We usually book our tours through the local agency in the destination, especially when it comes to Europe. During our past travel, we understood that it is very important to keep the mediators away. Not only does it reduce the cost of tour but it also reduces the response time.

I started looking for a local Portugal tour agency, and we kept on comparing costs with Singapore tour agencies. The first task for us was to decide on the itinerary and accommodations. Creating an itinerary now is not that difficult with the help of AI tools; however, choosing an accommodation in an unknown destination needs personalized advice. Fortunately, we got connected with a Portuguese local tour agency. We got connected with them on WhatsApp and started getting responses.

We told Carolina (from a Portuguese tour company) about our love for Portuguese culture, which is the reason we chose to look for a Portugal tour package. We also told her that we are looking for an accommodation, which is good and even very well placed. Carolina was quick in suggesting an itinerary with a bunch of helpful information that helped us a lot.

We were very sure that in 7 days, we would want to explore Lisbon, Porto and Albufeira. Our preferred activities were visiting Sintra, the Lisbon city tour and culture, the Fado music show, wine tasting at the Douro Valley and the Benagil caves.

We got a very well-presented itinerary by Carolina on the web page. We were impressed with the presentation and the itinerary was also as per our requirements. Also, as we expected, the Portugal tour packages offered by Singaporean tour agencies were expensive with fewer inclusions and flexibility.

We travelled in the month of march and we got our Portugal tour package booked in the month of December 2024 by a Portuguese tour company.

Smooth Booking Process of our Portuguese tour from Singapore

At one point we became sure that we were to book the package with a Portuguese tour agency. So we asked for the booking process. Because we were booking our international flights ourselves, the booking process was simply easy. Carolina asked for the names as per the passports to put the rooms on hold without any payment for limited days. We were given the payment dates and cancellation policy.

Our concern was making payment to a Portuguese tour company, as we have observed that many locally based tour agencies do not offer card payment options. However, to our surprise, we were not even offered the card payment option or the option to pay to a bank account in USD to their USA bank account. This understanding of the global approach made us feel more confident about them to book our Portugal tour package. There was an extra charge of 5% on card payments, so we chose to make a bank transfer in USD, which was smooth.

We received the payment receipt immediately after processing the payment. Also, they shared the vouchers with timings and pickup point, making it easier for us to plan our own exploration during the tour.
